PAKORA & garma garam Chai!
Chicken Pakoda
Pakoda or Pakora, also called pakodi, or ponako is a fried snack in the Indian sub-continent usually prepared during tea time considering that it is easy and quick. This can also be served as an appetizer during meals. The snack is not vegetable dependent and have an endless versions of the same gram flour batter – brinjal, finely chopped onions, coriander, raw banana, banana florets, tapioca, and many more…You can also combine multiple vegetables to create your own recipe.

While most of us would preferably eat a vegetarian pakoda, I have prepared a Chicken version of the same. These fritters are crispy and make you go on eating them until you finish the entire plate. Goes well in cocktail parties and entrées.

INGREDIENTS:
1.    Minced chicken – 100gm
2.    Red Onion – 1 large finely chopped
3.    Green chilies – 3 finely chopped
4.    Coriander leaves – finely chopped
5.    Salt to taste
6.    Garam Masala -1/4th teaspoon
7.    Red chili powder- 1/3rd teaspoon
8.    Turmeric powder -1/4th teaspoon
9.    Cumin powder- 1/3rd teaspoon
10.Oil to fry
11.Egg – 1 whole
12.Gram flour- 3 teaspoons (add more if required)

PREPARATION
1.    Mince the chicken and then mix all the ingredients and let it marinade for 10miutes.
2.    Heat oil in a pan and then make small balls of the marinade and put it in the oil.  The ball does not have to be round as it just needs to bind together; if required add gram flour.
3.    Fry them for 10minutes in low flame then another 3minutes in high flame until you get the colour that you would want.

4.    Serve hot with tea or coffee as well as sauces or chutneys too.
