Chicken with Roselle leaves Rice porridge in Mizo style
Sawchiar Siamdan Alwsam is a healthy and mouthwatering chicken recipe from Mizoram. It's basically a rice porridge, which is cooked with chicken and roselle leaves. This Mizo style rice porridge recipe is a great starter for those of you who want to make traditional North East Indian food and not just it's easy to prepare but delicious and nutritious too. The dish is not just visually appealing but aromatic, smooth, starchy and silky. The chicken not only gives it a texture but fulfills your protein requirements while the roselle leaves uplifts the color and adds a light tangy and sweet flavour to the dish thereby making it a perfect wholesome meal.

INGREDIENTS
1.    Chicken 150 grams
2.    Roselle Leaves fresh about 300 grams
3.    Onions 2mediun sliced
4.    Garlic 1 ½ teaspoon crushed
5.    Salt to taste
6.    Raw Rice 2 handsful
7.    Oil 3 tablespoons

PREPARATION
1.    First soak your raw rice for couple of hours and rinse it thoroughly.
2.    Heat oil in a pan, add your sliced onions and crushed garlic cloves - stir them and cook it on a medium flame for a minute.
3.    Now add your chicken pieces and salt to taste- stir frequently and open cook for 10 minutes until the water from the meat has completely dried.
4.    Add 5 to 6 cups of water and fresh roselle leaves- stir and cook them for 5 to 8 minutes.
5.    Finally add your soaked rice and open cook for 30 minutes by stirring frequently until the rice is completely cooked and crushed. Since some of us like in porridge so please add half a cup of water.
6.    Once the porridge becomes smooth and starchy, our wholesome Mizo style chicken with roselle leaves porridge is ready to be served.
